#4 of 50 State Capital Building Tour! Governor Huey Long had this gorgeous Art Deco Capital Building built in 1930. Much to the dismay of many who felt art deco was not dignified for their Capital Building. Well I’m certainly glad he did because it’s magnificent both inside and out! At 450ft and 34 stories it’s the tallest Capital Building in America and also the tallest building in Baton Rouge. There’s a viewing platform on the top floor which offers a stunning view of town and the Mississippi River.
The LA House Dinning Hall is by far & hands down the best Capital deli visited thus far! They offer a lot of local cuisine such as blackened catfish & jalapeño cheesy grits (which my sister told me where scrumptious). I had their yummy gumbo, hold the rice, and bacon green beans.
The entire experience was more than worth the 1.5hr drive from New Orleans.
